Advanced Security
One security feature that is important for large internat
webcasts is secure password authentication. This involves using
Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology which is used in
online music and video downloads for the protection of copyrighted
media. Basically DRM is utilized when sensitive online replay
media needs to be protected as far as who is authoried to watch
the content, how many times they can watch, the length of time
and other factors surrounding the security of the information.
It can even authorize which computer the meeting could be
viewed on and not allow access to the meeting if passed on
to someone else. In a simplistic scenario, each employee is
sent a generated use code and password to attend the meeting
either live or from an archive. The employee uses some other
authentication code, such as an employee number, to sign in.
The system then provides a digital certificate that contains
that employee's restrictions on viewing the meeting.
Apply this concept to your next company meeting where the
CEO maps out your most competitive strategy to maintain your
leadership or overtake your top competitors. Now think what
would happen if some disgruntled employee passed on the archive
of the presentation to your competitors, Devastating? Yes!
DRM solves this problem.
Another security feature important to internal company meetings
is restricted registration. It is important for companies to
have the capability to upload an authorized list of participants
and to invite them to view a restricted, confidential web meeting.
Make sure the tool you use for your internal corporate webcasts
is able to work within a DRM server framework as well as have
secure rigistratoion options.
